Ghost immobilisers offer added protection against theft of keys, key cloning, hacking or keyless entry, which effectively give thieves access to your vehicle.
How do ghost immobilisers work?
Ghost immobilisers add an extra, discrete security measure for vehicle owners on top of the traditional coded key fob. Engines will only start if an additional, unique pin number or code sequence is entered so even if thieves have stolen your keys, they will not be able to drive your vehicle away.
The pin code can be entered by pressing a pattern of existing electronic buttons on your steering wheel, on the door panel or the central console. The device is invisible, and only known to the vehicle’s owner and nominated other drivers. It takes seconds to use, yet is extremely effective in foiling would-be thieves.
Fitting your ghost immobiliser
The system can be fitted without any marks to the internal body of the vehicle. It has a connection to the CAN (Controller Area Network) and operates through the ECU (Engine Control Unit). It is installed in a hidden location, works silently, has no radio signals and is unrecognisable, so cannot be detected by a thief. For added security, only the ghost immobiliser fitters themselves are aware of the location of the device.
Flexible use
When in service mode, your car will start without using the PIN code – useful when taking it to a garage, or when using a valet parking service.
It’s easy to change the pin code, so you can do so for added security at any time.
You can also now download the immobiliser app for iPhone or Android and use this to disarm the car using its Bluetooth connection.
Ghost immobilisers and insurance
As this is relatively new technology we recommend you talk to your insurance company to check if your insurance will be cheaper.
